The Business Channel

When the Business Channel first came to us they had a website with fonts resembling Star Trek. Even though their TV and Print branding was pretty good, the digital side of their business hadn’t really got the love it deserved.

We first took their site down and replaced it with a temporary website. It was very simple at heart but it was finally in line with the rest of their branding, with the funny character “Bob” (which I named, he never really had a name before) interacting with the site in a static manner on the different subpages. Once that stage was complete we took on creating their new site.

The main website was supposed to be able to run itself. We built a custom CMS that would actually manage the site depending on the schedule, automatically pulling in the next cool shows and video previews based on when that show would appear that week. The reason for this was that even though they are a TV channel, they were still a small business at heart. This meant that they couldn’t really have someone constantly maintaining their site. The CMS would be able to handle all that for them, as long as there was a schedule to follow. The rest of the site could also be managed ahead of time, meaning you could schedule updates for the future.

We also did some other work for them. Like designing variations of “Bob” (see above,) business cards, posters, and acting as their brand guardian whilst working with them. “Bob” however was not our original creation but part of the visual identity created by another agency, we merely gave him some new looks for the digital side.

The company has since been sold on to another company and have redone their site and its branding.
