The client loved the designs, the video and the idea as a whole. My role in the pitch was to create it as a whole and come up with the digital solutions for it. I cannot disclose too much information but it was aimed at a young arty and hip crowd and where in the world a Mini would travel to find these interesting people and art.

Unfortunately, in the end we didn’t win the pitch, however, on a more positive note the marketing director did ask for a copy of the video.

The concept of this site is to be able to find all the local pubs in your area that are showing the footy and find out when it’s showing. It needed an intuitive search engine, a schedule viewer, downloadable content and a widget for people to share. I came in when the basic architecture of the site had been done. The job was to give the site a sporty but also techy feel. I think it turned out nice but I would have loved to have seen some more Sifr on the site to really get the feel of the branding out more.

I worked on this together with Brand Union, who supplied the branding materials for me to use. I had a very tight deadline and the aim was to create a website that could be produced quickly. At first we thought about using Wordpress, which I still think would have been the best option. Unfortunately because of server issues, we couldn’t take that route.

We created several ways for fans to interact, including widgets, social media site groups and downloadable content. I expect the site will be changing to a more robust version soon, as the number of fans increase. I really wish I could show the previous designs of the site when we had slightly different branding, but that is the I.P. of Brand Union, so I can’t.

The idea behind this company was to create products that can be used to increase one’s general health without having to hide those products away. The majority of the products were aimed at the high-end physically active female market. Products ranged from innovative types of yoga balls, repetitive stress relievers and many more.

Design-wise I wanted to allude to Arabic art but at the same time give it a modern and egdy feel. Their brand also has a direct link to Arabic line art, using their own track as a starting point. We took our time with the concepts and we went through many different looks before we were happy with it. We ended up with a very clean layout, playing with shades of grey and their initial bold red. One of the aims was also to make sure that when the site converted to Arabic it still would hold up without making everything disjointed, as Arabic reads left to right, meaning we needed to flip the whole page.

The design was then handed over to an external development team. Things were out of my hands after that point.

The client wanted to do away with the older branding but still keep the colours relatively similar. The company was also renamed to MyBreastMyFaceMyBody and although it was a redesign it was more of a reskin of the first original version (As you can see I worked with this company through their change of brand and business model). With both versions the aim was to appeal to women and to make users feel as if they’re entering a relaxing and comforting clinic.

Simple by the sounds of it but the system was very rigid and wouldn’t allow for much flexibility. So, I introduced a new number of templates with some hacks that would allow the desktops to look good but still varied.

I was also responsible for being the mediator between Volkswagen and their development company, tracking bugs and communicating these to the developers in their own technical terms. Whilst I was there, a large part of the time was spent on training the editorial staff on using the system and getting their vision realized into the desktop sites. This ranged from showing them how to import data from their old database, to custom-designing graphics for different sections.

In the end the desktop looked great and was a huge improvement from their old system. Today the desktops are used in all their retail stores, workshops and support offices.

However my design wasn’t the final concept picked, even though the current design does go along the same sort of idea I proposed. Of course, this is because of the their fantastic Creative Director Fernada and her team who were absolutely great to work with! Her initial idea was magnetism and how things attract each other. Later we developed the idea further during our meetings where we came up with the concept of transferring objects from the office, such as the coffee cup into the site.

Anyway, the concept is still rough and I do not consider it finished (for example I do not like the way I display an actual “work” item). Please keep in mind that this was supposed to be a full screen Flash project.

Even though I wasn’t the lead designer on this project, I did help in developing some of the screens as well and make sure everything was usable for the end user. The deadline was extremely tight, so of course we didn’t have time to animate every part of the site but just enough to show-off our concept. The pitch was successful in part, but the design & build was given to another agency.

The pitch was for something completely different, but they wanted to spice up the meeting with a website. So we sat down and came up with the idea of The Leisure Lab, a website that would review entertainment that pushed hardware to its limits, in co-operation with Stuff.tv and What Hi-fi. We had an extremely small turn around time and I had to work my butt off to create a site, brand and concept for the pitch. The client loved the idea and signed on instantly. The site turned out pretty good, although I still think we could have done with a few extra days of IA and Design.
